5 HOMEMADE DIY MASKS

In today’s worlds it has become very important to take care of your skin and hair with all the pollution and dirt residue accumulated in the pores. In my personal opinion it is very important to wash your face with warm water first, then apply any mask or cleanser as it opens up your pores. This enables the cleanser or mask to get reach the accumulation within your pores.  After which wash your face off with cold water to close your skin’s pores. And if possible apply ice to your face after washing it to further give the cooling effect to your skin. Although do not wash your hair with warm water as it weakens your hair follicles. Let’s get to the masks now:

1. Oatmeal face scrub

Firstly prepare a packet of plain oatmeal using less water than require to achieve a thick consistency. Then, in another bowl, mix 1tsp olive oil and 1 tsp honey and add this mixture to the oatmeal. Use this pack as a scrub twice a week avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with cold water and pat dry.

 2. Egg hair mask

Your hair follicles are made of protein. So if your diet lacks in protein, you will have the problem of hair fall. Firstly improve your diet and daily routine then use this mask thrice a week. Whisk 1-2 egg(s), depending on your hair length, in a bowl and incorporate 2 tbsp olive oil (or any other oil that you prefer).

Apply this hair mask with a mehandi dye brush for at least an hour but don’t leave it overnight and then wash it off with shampoo and a conditioner.

3. Honey face mask

Mix 1.5-2 tbsp honey with 1-2 tsp lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi) in a bowl to create a paste. Apply this paste to your face for 10-15 mins max 20. Wash it off with cold water. Do not step into sunlight after using this face mask as it will give you a burning sensation. Preferably use this mask at night.

This face mask would help tighten the face and reduce pigmentation over a period of time.

4. Banana hair mask

Mash 2 overripe bananas properly. Use a blender to make a fine paste of the mashed bananas, 1 tbsp olive oil and coconut oil with a tbsp of honey. Make sure that the paste is super fine or else you will have a problem in removing big fruit chunks from your hair. Apply this mask from the roots till the tips of your hair for a min of 10 mins and wash it off with a mild shampoo and conditioner

5. Gram flour or besan face mask

Mix 1 tbsp of gram flour or besan with 1tsp curd, a pinch of haldi or turmeric powder and 1sp chandan powder. Optional- add 1tsp or either dried crushed orange peel or dried crushed rose petals. Apply this paste to your face until it dries up and wash with cold water. Again do not go out in sunlight after applying this paste. If you have dry skin, you may also add a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil to moisturize. This pack is also useful in removing skin tan.

One thing which is important to remember is that all the natural and homemade masks take time to show results. So be patient.
