Mangalore to become the healthiest city with the launch of health campaign
The District Health and Family Welfare Society in Mangalore will soon launch a five year ‘National Urban Health Campaign to improve health of the city. The campaign includes provision of health booths offering health services to labourers and mobile health units in and around the city, said Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khadar.
The campaign, to be launched on October 25, is aimed at making Mangalore ‘the healthiest city’, along with Ullal, Bagalkot, Bangalore and Mysore. The service of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) would be made available in the proposed booths. Ten primary health centres (PHC) would be opened. The local MLA and corporation officials would be in charge of the PHCs, he said. Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Deputy Mayor Kavitha, MLA J R Lobo, Zilla Parishad CEO Tulasi Maddineni and others were present.
