Dr. Vinay Aggarwal Nominated to Delhi Medical Council

New Delhi, December 3: Dr. Vinay Aggarwal, former IMA president and Secretary General, has been nominated as member of Delhi Medical Council (DMC), a body that controls the medical practice in Delhi. Dr. Aggarwal is billed as next president of this very important statutory body for next 5 years. He has been the vice-president of outgoing DMC.

Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Pushpanjali Crosslay, a high tech multispecialty hospital, Dr. Aggarwal is a known humanist health provider. He has held many important leadership positions, most important of them being his stint as president of Confederation of Medical Association of Asiana-Oceana (CMAAO), a very prestigious world medical body. He happened to be the second Indian doctor to hold this position in CMAAO. As president of Indian Medical Association (IMA), he is known to have initiated a number of social initiatives including ‘Gao Chalo’ program.

Najeeb Jung, Lt. Governor of Delhi nominated him to DMC as Delhi Government’s representative. Other three who have been nominated to this statutory body are: Dr. Manoj Singh (AIIMS), Dr. Ambrish Mittal ( Medanta Medicity) and Dr. Ravi Mallik ( Pushpanjali Crosslay).

In the preceding month of November, Karma Group, in the leadership of Dr. Vinay Aggarwal, had a clean sweep in DMC elections. The nominated members also are of the same Karma group.  Given the arithmetic of the numbers, there should be no doubt about Dr. Vinay Aggarwal being the next president of DMC for five years to come.

The outgoing DMC had Dr. Arun Aggarwal, Dean, Maulana Azad Medical College, as its president. He held this post twice in a row for 10 years. Delhi Medical Council is a very important govt. body that monitors and regulates the medical practices in the capital of the country. It decides on the cases of negligence and complaints against doctors and passes the verdict on them.
