Home Remedies to Treat Blood Blisters

Blood blisters that can cause excruciating pain and irritation can be effectively treated with the help of some useful home remedies. So, next time you see a blister popping up, instead of reaching out for an over-the-counter medicine, reach out for your kitchen shelf.

What are Blood Blisters?

Blood blisters are a problem faced by many peoples. The blisters filled with blood in place of clear fluids are called blood blisters. A rupture of blood vessels underneath the skin usually causes blood blisters. To treat these blisters, some home remedies can be employed and these can make the blisters go away in a week’s time.

  1. Ginger
    Take a fresh ginger and extract juice from it. Apply few drops of juice to the blood blister thrice a day. The ginger extract is known to have anti-inflammatory properties that will help you relieve the pain.
  2. Ice
    Ice is considered to be one of the best home remedies to treat blood blisters. The moment you see a blister forming, place few ice cubes in a towel and wrap it around the blister. Swelling will be reduced and you will also get rid of the pain.
  3. Tea Tree Oil
    The anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil make it an effective remedy for blood blisters. Applying tea tree will naturally dry the blisters. Keep applying the oil on the affected area till the upper layer of the skin dries up.
  4. Cucumber
    Cucumber has cooling effects which can strengthen the connective tissues. Apply fresh cucumber juice on the blister which will reduce the pain, inflammation and swelling.
  5. Garlic
    Heat a tablespoonful of garlic oil and wait for it to cool down. Massage the affected area with this oil and let it dry. Once it’s dry, rinse it off gently.
  6. Aloe Vera
    Aloe vera is one of the best natural remedies for healing blisters naturally. The anti-inflammatory properties of aloe vera can help to reduce inflammation effectively. Dab the affected area with aloe vera juice and let it dry for some time. Rinse it with cold water and repeat at least thrice a day.
  7. Mouthwash
    Another useful remedy to treat blood blisters is mouthwash. Take a good antiseptic mouthwash and apply it to the blister. If you have a cut blister, mouthwash will help in preventing bacteria or fungus from spreading the infection.
