Dengue Cheated Winter this Time
New Delhi, November 25: Dengue is still persisting in Delhi and NCR despite fall of winter, which has left people shivering with fear.
Usually there used to be a fall in dengue cases after Diwali. Crackers were thought to decimate the dengue mosquitoes. And then winter used to be burial for it till next monsoon but this time around dengue seems to have cheated both.
Dr. K.K. Aggarwal, president of Heart Care Foundation of India and General Secretary Elect of IMA, spoke to Meditoall and said that winter is no more a factor in Dengue cases. Despite winter, dengue will persist in Central Delhi.
According to Delhi civic officials, there has been a spurt in dengue cases in the national capital and its adjoining areas which reported a total 781 cases till November 22.
725 dengue cases have been reported from the city which includes 171 cases from North Delhi Municipal Corporation, 320 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation, 141 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation, 19 from New Delhi Municipal Council etc. The remaining 56 cases have been reported from the adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Still the number of cases reported this season is much lower as compared to last year, which had recorded about 5,212 dengue cases during the same season in the city. Two people have so far died of dengue.
